Burst pipe?
Act in this order.
A burst pipe is one of the highest-damage events a Brisbane home can have. Every minute is litres on the floor. Here's what to do — and why each step matters.
Talk to a plumber1. Stop the water at the meter
Find your water meter (usually front yard or driveway), turn the tap clockwise until it's closed. This is the single most important step.
2. Switch off the hot water unit
Either at the wall switch (electric) or gas valve. A hot water tank can keep draining hot water into a burst hot supply for hours.
3. Move valuables off the floor
Soft furnishings, electronics, paperwork — lift them. Carpets and timber floors absorb fast and stain permanently.
4. Photograph everything
Wide shots and close-ups, before you mop. Insurance assessors need to see scope — your phone is the cheapest claims tool you have.
5. Call us
Most Brisbane burst-pipe callouts are on-site within the hour. We dispatch the closest ute and call you with an ETA.
6. Don't try a DIY repair
We see DIY repairs fail (and flood again) every week. A proper repair is pressure-tested — yours can't be without our gear.
Burst pipe repair, done once.
From your call to a pressure-tested repair, the same four-step process every time.
- 01
Dispatch & isolate
Closest ute paged. On arrival we isolate the section, stop the damage, and assess what failed and why.
- 02
Diagnose cause
Was it age, freeze, joint failure, tree-root pressure, or a slab movement? Knowing why dictates the right repair material.
- 03
Repair properly
Section cut, new pipe & fittings installed to code, joins flux-brazed or proper crimp/push-fit. No 'patch tape' fixes.
- 04
Pressure test
Full system held at line pressure to confirm zero leakage. You see the gauge before we close anything up.
Burst poly in the wall at 6am. Asset isolated it, replaced the section in copper, pressure-tested the lot, and showed me the gauge before they sealed up. Properly old-school workmanship.
Every pipe, every cause.
Asset repairs every domestic supply pipe in Brisbane — and we carry the right fittings for each on every ute.
Copper Pipe Repair
Type B copper, soldered or compression. The gold standard for Brisbane supply work and what we specify on most new installs.
Polypipe & PEX
Modern plastic supply — quick crimp/push-fit repairs, no flame work required in cavity walls. Common on slab-and-cavity homes.
Galvanised Steel
Found in 1960s–80s homes. We repair where viable and recommend section replacement when corrosion is advanced.
Slab Leak Repair
Located with thermal/acoustic gear, single-tile slab cut, repair, pressure-test, tile reinstatement coordinated with your tiler if needed.
Pressure-Limiting Upgrade
Many Brisbane bursts are caused by 800+ kPa mains pressure. We install pressure-limiting valves to prevent the next one.
Underground Mains
Buried supply line bursts located, excavated, repaired and backfilled — with poly mains replacement available end-to-end.
